5Wonderful Machine
By Chris Antola
I like to enjoy a capuccino every morning, but I was a bit tired of the process of griding the beans, tamping, frothing, cleaning up, etc. Also in an effort to save time, I decided to research a super autmoatic machine. I wanted a quality machine that would froth milk for me, but I was not impressed with the Jura Capresso machines because they require extensive clean up and are, in my opinion, grossly overpriced. My previous espresso machine was a Delonghi, and I was impressed by the quality of the machine and the espresso it produced. The EAM3500's automatic frothing mechanism was its main selling point. I was a bit hesitant about the price and longevity of the machine, but decided to go for it... I am happy that I did.The espresso is wonderful, and the fothing mechanism is great. Clean-up is, no exaggeration, takes a few seconds before the milk jug may be returned to the fridge. Frothed milk could be a bit hotter, but it's definitely tolerable. The boiler is easy to clean (unlike Jura Capressos), and the bright LCD lets you know everything that the machine requires. I have already descaled once (before I switched to distilled water), and it was a snap.Overall, I have owned the machine for 1.5 months, and it's the best. I never cease to be amazed every morning when I wake up -- the machine is already on and warmed up, and a delicious cappucino is a push of a button and thirty seconds away.I highly recommend this machine. The only bad experience that I had was when I tried to obtain a second water hardness testing strip. This piece of paper that comes with the machine is easy to lose, and when I called for another, Delonghi wanted to charge me $15... for a piece of paper! I decided to use distilled water (better for the machine anyway) and set the water hardness to its lowest level.--- UPDATE: 12/05/07 ---I have to say that I am still extremely pleased with this machine. The seals for the milk jug have done bad, but Delonghi customer service has been wonderful; they have furnished new seals and a new top.At the same time, I bought a second machine shortly after the first, and the second machine has been a nightmare. It has been "fixed" twice, and it can still be spotty for a few days (no froth or a cold espresso). This machine must be cleaned and used with care to assure longevity.

5Robust for even a small company
By pankaj
This machine has now been going strong in the breakroom of my 100 person company for more than 9 months. Ever since we got the machine, people have drastically reduced making their trips to nearby Starbucks. Everybody loves the machine because of its simplicity and ease of use. Lot of people just use the frothed milk only feature as well. The cleaning is simple as well. The only note of caution is that for lattes or cappucinos (i.e., when you use frothed or steamed milk), the drink does not come out too hot. You can adjust the temperature of the coffee by making a few settings, and the temperature is fine for normal use, but still you can not get an extra hot latte. At times when I want that, I just put my coffee filled cup in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and the problem is solved.I would also like to recommend people to set the appropriate hardness level using the test described in the manual. I did not do that at first and ended up decalcifying far too often. Also do not use warm water wherever possible.Bottomline, this is a highly recommended super automatic espresso machine for not just residences but even small companies.

5Better than Starbuck's
By Troy D. Lowell
This machine is really just as advertised - one touch capuccino and espresso with enormous customization. You can adjust the coffee strength independent of the volume (ristretto to lungo). The milk frother works wonderfully with good tight foam, and is mixed with the coffee in the cup in perfect ratio. It produces capuccino just as good as Starbucks (assuming you use Starbucks beans), and more consistent (sometimes, depending on the barista, the capuccino can be weaker or stronger based on the amount of milk added).I've had the machine for several months and have no complaints at all. The only minimal negatives I can think of is that I would like to have a somewhat larger bean hopper and water tank. The infuser is made of plastic, so I had some concerns about longevity, but when you take it out to clean it you can see that it is very thick solid plastic. Given than this machine costs only $1500 vs. more than double that for any more solidly constructed machine, and this was definitely the way to go.

3Different then the B70
By Arthurdent3
I give this 3 stars just because it is a Keurig and the single serve system is great.I do however have a beef with this model. Not only is it more expensive than your BJ's or Costco it also lacks certain features you get when you purchase the B70 model. I just bought mine at BJ's and I am returning it to purchase a B70 model. The differences are:B70 ( Platinum )Cup sizes up to 12ozAdjustable TempLacks the 72 K-Cups instead you get 12.B77 ( Select )Stops at 10ozNo Adjustable Temp.Bonus 72 K-Cups instead of the 12.If you don't care much for the differences then the extra K-cups might make it worth the buy. I would still suggest you get it from BJ's or Costco since this price is $30 more here than they have it for.I wanted the 12oz so I decided to forgo the extra k-cups and I am going for the B70 (Platinum).

4The Keurig package to buy, but only if you can find a bargain
By Brian Connors
We've had ours for about two weeks and it is exactly what we wanted it to be. The coffee it makes is excellent, and with this particular package you're not locked into the (rather expensive) K-Cups since it comes with a My K-Cup filter for your own coffee, and if you don't mind paying for the K-Cups there's still a huge selection available, starting with Keurig's parent company Green Mountain Coffee and extending to several other smaller specialty coffee roasters. It's dead simple to use and even knocks out a couple of useless features from the B70 model (the unnecessary temperature control and the pathetically weak 11-oz serving size). On the whole, this package is an excellent bargain for a single-serve coffee maker -- if you know where to look.I'm not too sure what's going on with the pricing on Amazon's partners here, but we wound up buying ours at a warehouse store and saving thirty dollars off the street price for a B70; considering what the K-Cups go for and how much the filter adapter costs, we essentially got the coffee maker for not much more than the price of the Mini. The price difference between there and here led me to knock a star off the rating. The upshot, though, is that if you're going to buy a Keurig brewer and you don't think the Keurig Mini will suit your needs (the B77 has a water tank suitable for 4-6 people), this is the brewer and package to get.

5Great coffee, great hot chocolate, great coffee maker
By Botpol
I'd been searching for a coffee maker for some time. So many look good and the price range is ridiculous, what does a girl buy? I knew I didn't want a coffee maker with a large pot, my husband doesn't drink coffee and I typically drink one or two cups. I owned a Senseo at one time but primarily used it for tea, the coffee always had a funky cardboard taste to me. To get a decent selection of coffees or teas I had to go online, it just wasn't convenient to have to order my pods and wait for them. The Keurig is a whole different story. I was at at store and saw this, I was still on the fence until I saw this new model could make a glass of iced tea as well. Needless to say I was sold, yay for impulse buying!! I love how quick this makes coffe, tea and hot chocolate. The manual says it could take over a minute for a cup but I've found it's always less than a minute. I also love the fact I can locally buy the K-cups if I run out or I can use the mycup if I want to use my own coffee or tea.My in-laws came out for a couple of weeks and they fell in love with this too. They are the typical older parents, they know what they like and don't want to change. They like their Folgers Classic and that's what they wanted to drink. I knew they could use the Mycup but I had no idea on the amount or if the taste would be different. I had only used Mycup for tea, which it worked fine for. They came out, I should them how to use it and I think they liked this machine a little more everyday. About a week into their visit they said they wanted one for home and the Keurig actually made the coffee taste better.Oh, and I like the light for the water reservoir. It's bright enough to act as a night light in the kitchen but not so bright it's annoying. The light also blinks when the water gets low, again a nice, non-annoying way to let me know to fill it.Pros:Easy to useEasier to clean than a coffee makerSaves money, no wasted coffeeBrews a better cup of coffeeBrew good hot chocolate, we use the Cafe Escapes K-cupsEasy to find K-cups locally and are cheaper than onlineEveryone can get the coffee, tea, hot chocolate they wantBrews quicklyCons:Now we have to buy one for the in-lawsReservoir could be bigger but then I suppose it would make the foot print bigger, which I wouldn't want.

5Making coffee is more like making love, with this coffee machine
By Seth K.
I've been a coffee pod advocate for years have had the Bunn MCP in my home for about five of those years. It's flawless, never broke, brews delicious coffee. My Bunn is also "hard lined" to the plumbing behind my fridge so I always get fresh cold water and never have to pour over the top. This was insanely simple to do and I'm not sure why more people don't do it. All you need to do is get the right adapters from your local plumbing or hardware store and create a "Y" in the 1/4" line that feeds water to your refrigerator. Then route the newly split line over to your coffee machine. Since most refrigerators are set inside a little cubby hole these days, I just drilled a 1/4" hole in the side of the cubby hole and put my coffee machine right next to the fridge (you can't see the hole any longer). Contact me if you have have questions about what type of adapter to buy - in all you'll spend $5-$10 dollars completing this little task. Well worth it for never having to fill up a coffee machine tank ever again.Back to the story....My Bunn MCP is awesome but folks have a tendency to leave spent pods in the tray (yuck) and you need to clean the machine (decalcify - as simple as 'brewing' a cup with vinegar instead of water) but the machine is analog in how it dispenses water so you don't really know you need to decalcify the machine until you notice that 7oz of coffee is starting to look like a lot less than that. So I went on the search for the next evolution in coffee pod brewing technology.Let's just say you get what you pay for. The My Cafe AP is gorgeous and melts right in with all the other stainless appliances like the fridge, microwave, et al. In five years, Bunn has really stepped up their game. First off, the AP has an internal digital pour meter so it actually senses how much water has flowed into your cup, as opposed to the old analog style which was just leaving the solenoid open for some period of time, like 15 seconds or whatever. The AP actually shows this on its LCD display too - so you can see how some pods that are packed more tightly than others might brew more slowly or absorb more of the initial water stream, but still end up brewing the same amount of joe. The AP also has a handy auto-eject feature so spent pods are simply discarded in the internal trash can - you can put a tiny little trash can liner in here if you want, but I don't. Best of all, it's also plumbed like my original MCP, so I could literally reuse the exact same hook up as previous. This unit went from box to usable in under 5 minutes.I also like all the features available in the LCD - although it's not intuitive my looking at the LCD. You need the manual for this one. It's almost as if the CPU is full of Easter Eggs, like locking the display, changing the amount of water dispensed through "small" versus "large" cup, etc. But out-of-the-box none of this is necessary. If you like to fill your travel mugs every morning, you might however want to turn stock "small" into stock "large" and stock "large" into 10oz, instead of whatever the default is set at, I think it's 7 or 8oz.Anyhow, it's by far the most expensive coffee machine I've ever bought, or that anyone's ever bought for their home that doesn't brew espresso. But if you're sick and tired of waiting for an entire pot to brew, just to waste half of it, or need another pot, or whatever, this is the coffee machine for you. Brew as much as you want, one pod at a time, and please for god sake - live in the 21st century and plumb it into your fridge like a normal person.PS - When it comes to which coffee pods to buy, all I can say is that you need to do a taste test. Nearly all of the mass producers I've tried make the worst 'regular' coffee, but the best flavored coffee. Whereas the opposite is true from the non-coporate small-business vendors - they make the best regular coffee and worst flavored coffee. So in my case, I get my Guatemala and Paris French Roast online from a small boutique coffee pod producer. But I get my Hazelnut online from Amazon from one of the bigger companies.CHEERS!

5Espresso Made Easy
By Jan Olson
This is the second La Pavoni Espresso machine I've gotten. It makes the best Espresso every single time and is so easy to use! I couldn't be happier with it. It is a bit pricy, but the last one I bought lasted for about 10 years, so I expect this one to do the same. (I only make Espresso with it.)

Full transparency - I'm stupid rich. I made millions in the heady days of the dot com boom by buying up domain names that might someday be famous (earnthenecklace.com? Yeah that was me). I haven't done anything since but live off my investments. Mostly I buy stuff from Ronco and QVC to try and make a dent in my checking account. I have 15 Pocket Fisherman's still in the box. Then a friend told me about the Starbucks Pour Over for $124.My kitchen counters are now COVERED with these little beauties. I give them as tips to waitresses. Finally I have something to plug the monster hole in my soul.

2I wanted to like this coffee maker...
    By D. Wellerstein
I really wanted to like this coffee maker. We've tried several and thought this one was the answer but unfortunately, we need to keep looking. The problems are:1. Coffee produced is not that hot. I expected more, especially with a pre-heated carafe.2. As someone else noted, the carafe will pour even in the "closed" position. This indicates an air leak-- something that will chill the coffee much more quickly.3. Pour spout is not good and a lip overhang means that the last drop is virtually impossible to get out.4. The indicator for the timer is very hard to see.5. The water holder, while convenient to remove, is very hard to level. And, there is a hole in the tank to prevent over filling. Unfortunately, it means clean up of spilled water.6. The handle was crooked (not a major issue but annoying to look at on a $129 coffee maker).Made good coffee, especially in small batches, but lots of machines will do that. Shame it had too many flaws to overcome.

    1many design defects
    By RobH
i bought this coffee maker as i wanted a thermal model that also had front loading of water. never liked those models that you have to pull out so you can load water in the back. unfortunately, most are like that. anyway with this one, after using for several weeks now, i have discovered several deficiencies. first was to remove the water drawer and coffee grinds basket, you need to depress a button on the handle and pull it out. with mine, when you do that, the lever doesn't pull down enough and you can't get the drawer out. it gets stuck. i have to keep wrestling with it to get it out. then, as other posters have noted, it frequently leaks all over the counter when brewing. still can't figure that out. pot and drawer are in proper position, but it happens anyway. also, the way the lid to the pot screws on is such that it is kind of difficult to align it exactly level so it can screw on. if you don't get it in just the right position, one edge screws down to the pot, the other sticks up a 1/4 or so. pouring is poor like the other posters said as the interior of the pot has a big lip. can't get all the coffee out unless you practically turn the pot upside down. Last problem started in the past few days. if you fill it up to make a full pot and press the brew button, it will go about half way through the cycle and stop leaving half the water in the machine. i can't figure that out either. the machine will beep indicating the brew is complete, but in reality its stops brewing about half way through the cycle. it seems the only way to get it to brew to completion is to turn it off and then press the brew cycle again. then it will normally finish brewing the coffee.the other thing is this company has no US phone number listed in the manual for customer service. they have a phone number to italy. so you can't reach them for assistance. but to anyone thinking of buying this coffee maker, i'd keep looking. Its made in china and has all the low quality of a typical product made in china. that coupled with the fact there is zero customer support from the company, if you get it and it has problems, which is highly likely, your going to be stuck.

    1Flawed Design.
    By William Armstrong
The only thing I like about this coffee maker is the pull-out feature. Now for the negatives: The filter basket handle will occasionally pop up while the hopper is inserted in the machine, making it difficult to pull the hopper back out. It's difficult to avoid hitting the hopper handle when putting the carafe into the machine. The display panel is lit only when the machine is on and is difficult to read. The timer icon is smaller than a pencil eraser and is very difficult to see. The carafe lid is cumbersome to open and close and, for reasons I don't fully understand, sometimes leaks coffee all over the counter while I'm pouring.I've used it for a week. It's going back today.
